Allied Telesis goes for throat of public sector

Networking vendor on the prowl for partners

Vendor has earmarked public sector for partner growth

Networking vendor Allied Telesis is looking to skill up partners in preparation for a concerted push into the public sector this year.

Keith Hoult joined the company two months ago as sales director for northern Europe. He will oversee operations in the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia. Hoult indicated his priority is to formulate a new channel programme to help get closer to partners and crack new markets.

“The main thing is communication and building resources to support the channel,” he said. “We are looking to hire more sales people and will work closely with partners to define the right marketing.”

Hoult indicated Allied Telesis has traditionally been strong in the service provider, carrier and enterprise markets, but wanted to court the public sector. “We have a cost-competitive product range and the marketplace is looking for value,” he said.

The vendor has between 200 and 300 active UK partners “at any one time”, according to Hoult. “Clearly, we would like more,” he added.
