Casio projects distribution success
Midwich and Micro-P appointed to carry Casio's new laser and LED hybrid projector
Slim shady: Casio claims its new technology is 'groundbreaking'
Casio has widened its UK projector distribution net after unveiling what it claims is the world’s first laser and LED hybrid projector.
The vendor has traditionally sold exclusively through Medium, but has appointed both Midwich and Micro-Peripherals (Micro-P) to push out the new technology.
Casio has claimed its Green Slim projectors are the first with sufficient power for projection in a brightly lit room, without using a high-pressure mercury lamp.
Philip Clark, business development manager at Casio, said the vendor was aiming to pocket nearly five per cent of a UK projector market predicted to grow four per cent to 255,000 units in 2010, according to analyst Futuresource Consulting.
“We entered the projector market seven years ago,” Clark said. “It was only in 2006 that we realised the only way to break the back of the market was to come out with something truly revolutionary.
“As a key player in the projector market, Midwich was an obvious choice. Micro-P can touch some of the smaller resellers that may not exist on Medium or Midwich’s database.”
Darren Lewitt, divisional director at Midwich, said: “We felt we had an obligation to bring this technology to market as none of our existing vendors have a comparable variant.”
“There are no projector lamps involved so anyone who is under pressure to become greener will be attracted to this technology.”
