Bullish Sphinx heads for growth
Distributor confident for 2010 and is keeping an eye on potential acquisition opportunities
Ambitious distributor Sphinx is gunning for 25 per cent growth next year after sma-
shing through the £60m turnover barrier in 2009.
The security and networking distributor, has grown steadily from the £13m turnover posted in September 2003, also hinted that it was looking at acquisitions.
Mark Hatton, managing director of Sphinx, said: “We have looked at acquisitions in the past and are still open to the idea if we can identify the right company.
“The business is growing well on its own and that is mainly down to our strategy of sticking with a smaller number of vendors and only taking on a couple of new vendor partners a year.”
Particular areas of growth included its training business and technical services division, Hatton added.
Miles Rippon, head of global channel business at Clearswift, said: “Sphinx is a great partner for us. Personal relationships are important to its business, and its resellers feel confident that there is a lot of trust in the relationship. We have found it to be a very flexible distributor and are pleased with how the partnership is going.”
