BigFix builds channel to broaden its coverage

Security vendor claims it needs more VARs to cope with rising demand for security and configuration tools

Security vendor BigFix is looking to expand its UK channel to keep up with what it has claimed is a sharp increase in demand for security and configuration management tools.

The vendor, which specialises in security configuration management software, services and solutions, has recently added two VARs – Scorpio Network Solutions and Pervasive Networks – to its UK partner stable and is on the hunt for two more resellers to broaden its coverage.

Speaking to CRN, Mark Fullbrook, EMEA channel manager at BigFix, said: “Our market is expanding exponentially and we can definitely take on a couple more resellers.”

Fullbrook added that the type of VARs BigFix wants will be an integrator-level partner that has the capacity from a sales and technical perspective to sell “complex solutions” at a high value. The vendor is seeing success in markets of all sizes, with end-user customers ranging from 150 seats up to 300,000 seats, he said.

At present, BigFix operates a single-tier channel strategy with no plans to expand into distribution. However, Fullbrook claimed revenue opportunities are “massive” for resellers.

“We are winning significant contracts all the time, despite Microsoft offering free products in the same space,” he said. “Our technology works very well.”

Richard Bailey, technical director at Scorpio Network Solutions, said: “Our tagline is leading-edge technology. As far as we are concerned, the product that BigFix offers is the Holy Grail of patch management and is the only one that works in real time. It allows us to offer a complete end-to-end solution to our customers.”
