Fujitsu aiming for UK growth

Vendor overhauls programme for its storage partners

Fujitsu Europe is looking to revamp its storage partner programme to match the evolving demands of its channel.

The vendor also plans to grow its UK channel base in 2007 largely in “non-traditional” IT markets, such as manufacturing.

Matthew Beavis, head of channel management for storage at Fujitsu Europe, said: “We are just coming up to the end of our financial year and have decided to re-invigorate our partner programme. Our existing programme has been in place for about three years and at the time it was in line with what our resellers needed, but those needs have changed in that time and we want to reflect that.

“We also have goals to grow our UK resellers. We have a good market share in the UK with traditional system integrators and players, but we are aiming to broaden our reach. We are particularly looking for resellers or system integrators that understand the manufacturing market and will have a programme tailored for them too. There is going to be a big growth in demand for disk-based storage and this is going to be fuelled by non-traditional IT sectors.”

Paul Matravers, director of sales, storage products at Hammer, said: “We are very much involved with industrial manufacturing markets. As the market grows we are seeing more unique drives coming out for specific markets so companies such as Fujitsu are looking to create a new range of products for those markets.”
