Netilla flexes SME muscle with SGA-C

Vendor's new SSL VPN range offers margin-making opportunity

Security vendor Netilla Networks is offering partners up to 30 per cent margin on its latest product range aimed at SMEs.

Last week the firm launched the first in its Secure Gateway Appliance (SGA) family of application-specific Secure Socket Layer VPN products, called the SGA-C.

Targeted at firms with Citrix Metaframe software installed, the product allows remote employees, extranet users and business partners to access Citrix applications remotely without having to install any software on their PC, Netilla claimed.

Reggie Best, chief executive of Netilla, told CRN he believes the SGA-C will be well received in verticals such as local government, pharmaceutical firms and financial services organisations.

"Another plus is that VARs do not have to gain extra certification on this product above what they have already achieved, so they won't need to make a huge investment," Best said.

The product will be distributed through Allasso, but Netilla is also running a marketing campaign through VAR Softcat.

Best said the vendor will not rule out extending its distribution reach and taking on new VARs with the product in the future.

But he added: "At the moment we are sticking with our chosen partners because we are looking for a rifle-shot rather than a shotgun approach to the market." Richard Perez, security manager at Softcat believes the product provides a good opportunity for the channel.

"When vendors release products they try to release them so they appeal to a wider market, but Netilla has identified spaces in the market in which it is very strong, and one of those is Citrix," Perez said.

"The SGA-C is very much aimed at SMEs, firms that want a product to do the job they need and be secure. There is great demand for products with single- function application control. This product will provide a massive value for our customers, many of which don't want the bells and whistles larger products have."
