CKS Group in administration

PLUS-listed firm is expected to be sold

Nitin Joshi: CKS' accreditations could be assumed by a purchaser.

CKS Group, an established player in the WEEE arena, has entered into administration and was on course to be sold as CRN went to press.

As of 10 September, four companies had submitted bids for the PLUS-listed firm, which traded under the names CK Stephens and Company and CKS Electronics Recycling Ltd. The bid deadline was 12 September.

Nitin Joshi, founder of Channel-money, which is CKS’ administrator, said: “This is an opportunity for someone to acquire CKS’ skills sets, IT platform, name and customer base and start running the business straight away.”

Joshi stressed that CKS’ accreditations including CKS Electronics Recycling’s three government certificates could be assumed by the purchaser.
Graham Nye, managing director of rival Chiltern IT, claimed that authorised IT recycling firms were under pressure because authorities had failed to crack down on the illegal practice of shipping electrical waste overseas.

“WEEE is just an extra revenue stream for us as we also provide computer hardware. Anyone offering just recycling would have quite large overheads,” he added.
