Calyx shakes up management and plans new offices
Fiona Timothy arrives as group chief executive as integrator eyes expanded London base and new digs in Dublin and Shepshed
All aboard: Calyx has brought in Fiona Timothy as part of a new-look senior management line-up
Integrator Calyx has shaken up its top-level management and is set to open an expanded London HQ ahead of another acquisition drive, ChannelWeb can reveal.
An internal memo seen by ChannelWeb reveals former COA Solutions leader Fiona Timothy has been brought in by new owners Better Capital as chief executive of the Calyx Group of companies. She has been tasked with overseeing the restructuring process as the firm finds it feet under new ownership.
Tara Brady remains chief executive of the group's primary vehicle Calyx Managed Services, with Dave Everest serving as sales director. Matt Bartell fills the role of director of managed services and client management, while Joe Mayhew is director of technology and pre-sales. Paul Taylor has been appointed as operations director and Neil Waterman will serve as finance director.
Former Calyx group services director Gaurav Bhasker and operations head John Hawker have both elected to leave the company following the Better Capital buy-out. During their time at the firm, the pair were instrumental in driving the integration process for the former Calyx Group roster of companies.
Former finance chief David Hargaden recently led a management buyout of Calyx's comms-focused Irish unit, which he now serves as chairman.
By the end of this year, Calyx also plans to close offices in Stevenage and Rainford to focus on operations in Didsbury and London, where it is headquartered. Small satellite units will also continue to operate in Hyde and Farnborough.
The memo reveals the integrator plans to move into a swanky new City office this year as it shows its intent to reestablish itself as a major IT services player – partly through consolidation. Calyx intends to boost its services capabilities through acquisition, said the memo.
Calyx's Irish unit – which has been renamed MentecPlus Integrated Solutions – is also moving to new digs in Dublin later this month. Fiona Timothy will manage Irish operations directly until a full-time leader is found.
The Calyx Software UK business is also on the move and will soon open doors on a new office near its current base in Leicestershire. Andy Hayward will remain in charge of the business.
Having been rescued from administration last month, industry onlookers recently predicted Calyx would be eager to get back into acquisition action sooner rather than later. Some rivals claimed the integrator might look to branch into emerging technologies, such as cloud services.
