Noxs firmly in Arrow's sights

US giant favourite to acquire security distributor

US distributor Arrow Electronics is gearing up to strengthen it European presence after taking pole position in the race to acquire security distributor Noxs, CRN understands.

Arrow has been touted as a potential suitor for both InTechnology (CRN, 11 September) and Noxs (23 October), as exclusively revealed by CRN. The US giant has an active European presence, but it now looks likely to land Noxs to improve its foothold across Europe.

Alastair Edwards, senior analyst at Canalys, said: “It would make sense for Arrow to acquire Noxs because it has been trying to build up an enterprise business in Europe.”

Edwards said acquiring Noxs would also fit in with Arrow’s acquisitive approach, while taking it into a new market in security.

“A lot of the enterprise distributors have added security to their offering, but Arrow has no real experience of security in Europe because it mainly supplies components,” he said.

Edwards added that if Arrow did acquire Noxs, it could also buy InTechnology as well. “Arrow might look to make further complementary European acquisitions. It has the scale to do this,” he said.

One source told CRN: “I’m hearing a lot more noise around Arrow acquiring Noxs. Ingram Micro was linked to Noxs, but things have gone quiet on that front.”

Arrow declined to comment.
