Clunk Click wants back-up troops

Vendor looking to recruit to boost sales of Mac OS X online backup software

Online backup vendor Clunk Click is hunting for resellers to increase the market penetration of its Mac OS X online backup software.

The software enables users of the Mac operating system to back up data to two offsite data storage sites. End-users can also opt to back up OS X data to their own in-house server.

Huw Roberts, marketing manager at Clunk Click, told CRN that the software will provide resellers with a recurring monthly revenue.

“This is a great way for resellers to increase their range of offerings,” he said. “We aren’t looking for VARs to have a specific background in Macs. We will support them with any technical queries that they or their end-users may have.”

Roberts added that most Mac OS X users currently tend to back up their data to tape, hard drive or CD. However, he claimed that Clunk Click’s online software will enable resellers to supply end-users with a hands-free data backup facility.

Resellers are free to set pricing structures for their end-users. However, Clunk Click’s recommended monthly service charge is £5 per gigabyte of data and £5 per software licence.

Jim Simpson, managing director at Clunk Click VAR Ziptech Services, told CRN: “The Mac market for data backup is currently very under-serviced. This will lead to a lot more sales for Clunk Click VARs, especially in the SME market.” C
