Northgate dives in to snare CCWater deal
Reseller bags £750,000 managed IT contract
VAR Northgate Information Solutions has won a three-year £750,000 managed IT contract with utilities trade body Consumer Council for Water (CCWater).
The trade body told CRN that Northgate had been awarded the contract after a tendering process through the government’s GCat framework, which has since been replaced by the Catalist framework, on which Northgate is an approved supplier (CRN, 20 February).
CCWater was created in October as a representative body for water and sewerage services in England and Wales. Andrew Marsh, a CCWater representative, told CRN: “We looked at the operating skills and economic benefits that each applicant would offer. Northgate was able to demonstrate the best value for money and flexibility. It will provide us with full IT installation.”
Under the terms of the contract, Northgate’s managed services division will provide CCWater with fully managed IT across its eight regional offices, which includes both London and Manchester.
The VAR will take full responsibility for ownership, upgrade and support of all CCWater’s IT assets for a fixed cost.
Ed Brown, managing director of the utilities sector at Northgate managed services, said: “CCWater chose us because we understand its requirements well and could provide top-level support. We will provide it with a fully managed service, including installing systems and applications.”
CCWater has also put out to tender, through the now defunct SCat framework, a sub-£500,000 contract to supply and host both its web site and intranet. The successful applicant is due to be announced later this month.
