Payne: I will be dedicated to understanding the business in order to identify market opportunities

Videoconferencing vendor Polycom has appointed former Avaya and Siemens executive Aaron Payne as its area sales vice president for the UK and Ireland.

Payne joins the vendor from mobile communications specialist Obsidian Wireless, where, as director of global sales, he was responsible for growing sales of fixed mobile convergence products. In a 26-year career he has also held senior posts at Touch Telecom, Avaya and Siemens.

Polycom has tasked Payne with setting the firm's strategy across the UK and Ireland through both direct and channel sales. He will also be expected to hit revenue growth targets.

Payne said: “I will be dedicated to understanding the business and the team, in order to identify the market opportunities and revamp the existing channel and sales strategy."

Steve Leyland, Polycom's EMEA general manager, added: “The videoconferencing industry has weathered the economic storm reasonably well and is better positioned than many other industries. It is vital for Polycom to seize the market opportunities and grow our market share. We are confident that Payne will continue to steer Polycom full speed ahead in the right direction.”
