Obonok Technologies offers technologies that ease connection to multiple displays

True Colours Distribution has signed an exclusive UK deal with high definition (HD) technology developer Obonok Technologies.

According to Jin Khangura, connectivity specialist at True Colours, this introduces to resellers a new offering for uncompressed High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) signal distribution over a single CAT5e/CAT6 unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable.

“Traditionally, all HDMI signals have needed to be sent over two Cat5/6 cables. This does not always help when installing HD equipment and displays where only a single pre-installed cable exists,” Khangura said.

One new range is the Blu-Wire Series that connects an HD source such as a Blu-ray disc player via CatX cables to hundreds of HD displays within 350m.

“Blu-Wire can extend 1080p with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) to 50m for each hop with single UTP cable,” Khangura said.

The Blu-Wire Series is also claimed to simplify installations where the display is further away than the standard length for HDMI hook-up cables.
