IBM has formally acquired data integration software vendor DWL for an undisclosed sum
IBM has formally acquired data integration software vendor DWL for an undisclosed sum.
The purchase was announced last month, but has been subject to closing conditions.
Janet Perna, general manager for information management at IBM, claimed: “With this acquisition, IBM can deliver the industry’s most comprehensive set of master data management solutions.”
Big Blue also claimed the acquisition will enable it to develop software that allows end-users to use customer data to address regulatory compliance.
John Baumstark, chief executive of DWL, said: “DWL has worked with IBM as a strategic business partner in helping organisations to create consolidated views of their customers.”
Helena Schwenk, a senior analyst at Ovum, said: “IBM had been making noises in this direction for a while. It needed to do something in the light of growing activity in this area from SAP and Oracle.”
