CA unveils combined security product suite

Software vendor claims new suite of security software will eliminate the need to combine products

Computer Associates (CA) has launched a new suite of combined security and back-up products aimed at the small and mid-market sector.

The software vendor has claimed its latest set of products will help its partners boost revenue by offering customers a combined security, storage and data migration range on a single interface, rather than having to combine several different products.

David Ball, director of channel marketing for EMEA at CA, said: “Some partners have the tendency to sell either storage or security, but this product suite allows them to sell both.

“One of the things they can do is offer more to their client base than they have before. Many smaller firms don’t employ IT people until they get to a certain size, and this release saves end-users having to bolt everything together by offering them one product that does everything.

“Margins are also good for resellers so it is a win-win situation.”

Ball added that the product is fully scaleable, and that firms can choose between a desktop, server or combined business version of the software.

Craig Tempest, technical director of CA VAR Fibrecity, said: “The web-based management console enables end-users to execute their key administrative tasks and respond more quickly to critical issues as they arise.”

Tony Price, managing director of WStore, added: “It definitely has the potential to be a good product because it combines both back-up and security."
