NetSuite unveils SuiteBundler service

Tailored service offering is designed to help resellers create vertical bundles with its technology

Hosted software vendor NetSuite has unveiled a tailored service designed to help its resellers create industry-specific vertical bundles based on its technology.

SuiteBundler, a component of the vendor’s SuiteFlex application development platform that enables the creation of third-party vertical applications, allows VARs to bundle various SuiteFlex technologies together to create vertical-specific applications.

The vendor claimed that SuiteBundler and SuiteFlex combined will allow VARs to embed what was previously a one-off service offering for a single end-user, into a vertical software technology, and take it to thousands of end-users in an industry.

Craig Sullivan, senior director for product management at NetSuite, told CRN that the technology is like making pre-canned technologies.

“There could be as many different versions as there are resellers and verticals,” he said. “It’s totally up to VARs how they configure and which vertical they approach.”

Sullivan claimed that the government, healthcare and financial sectors are in particular demand for vertical technologies, and that VARs can now have a vertical solution for every sector they play in.

“This is definitely a step ahead of our rivals and in response to channel demand for new ways to make sales,” Sullivan claimed.

Brenda Brinkley, chief executive of NetSuite partner Epiphany, has already used SuiteBuilder and SuiteFlex to design vertical technologies for the audiovisual (AV) and floor care industry.

“We’ve been able to customise NetSuite to create dNet and FloorNet to meet companies’ specific requirements in the AV and commercial flooring services industries,” she said.

The announcement follows a promise made by NetSuite in March this year to produce industry tailored versions of its software, after its release of the software tailored specifically for software businesses.

In April the vendor announced that it intended to double its UK partner base to strengthen its vertical market presence (CRN, 24 April).
