News brief

GEC Capital's acquisition of P&P has been closely monitored by the main players in the UK reseller market, but it has been most closely reviewed by Computacenter, the UK's largest reseller, and the company with most at stake.

Mike Norris, chairman and CEO of Computacenter, said on the matter: 'The buy would push GE Capital's status up from being a small UK player to that of a medium-sized one.

GE Capital is now more significant in the UK. But it is also a good deal for Skillsgroup.

'It has proved to be relatively unsuccessful as a reseller in the past.

It bought a few companies but tended to go backwards while Skillsgroup owned P&P.

'Now Skillsgroup is getting some money and independence. It's bound to be a good thing. Good luck to it.'
