More jobs lost in Scotland
Server vendor switching production to the Czech Republic
Scottish server vendor Inventec has announced plans to slash around 370 full and part-time posts when its Hillington plant shuts later in the year.
Production will switch to the firm's Czech Republic factory and becomes the second Scottish closure this month after US-based Sanmina-SCI closed its plant in Greenock with the loss of around 300 jobs.
A company statement from Inventec said: "The decision follows a detailed review of Inventec’s worldwide operations. It has been decided that the best course for the company in a highly competitive global marketplace is to transfer all manufacturing and service operations for Server products currently manufactured at Hillington to Inventec’s plant at Brno in the Czech Republic."
