GCat tale leaves Tplc in suspense

Tplc is expected to learn this week whether it has retained its contract to supply EDS logistics to the government supplies catalogue (GCat).

As exclusively reported in PC Dealer (20 August), EDS sent a letter to the reseller at the beginning of August warning that it had a month to respond to a number of customer complaints.

An EDS representative said a decision was expected by 2 September, but she would not say whether the contract was likely to be retained. One source said relations between the companies had been very negative.

Tplc?s three-year contract, in association with parent ICL, to supply GCat is estimated to be worth over #200 million a year.

Computacenter, which lost out in a bid for the original contract with services company CSC, is understood to be waiting in the wings to pick up the business if Tplc loses it. Computacenter general manager Martin Hellawell refused to comment on speculation.

Tplc was unavailable for comment.
