Mitel puts licensing online to cut waiting

Mitel has claimed it has halved the time it takes channel partners to create and upgrade software licences with the creation of an online tool.
The Application Management Centre standardises the software licensing process for both resellers and distributors, allowing them to create a licence for a new customer in two minutes, the firm claimed
Adrian Frankland, product marketing manager at Mitel, said: “This new tool speeds things up for channel partners to allocate licences. Previously the process was not online and could take several days.”
The vendor also claimed that channel partners can create new product licences for existing customers in 60 seconds, as well as licence upgrades in 30 seconds.
Last month, Mitel also expanded its distribution base with the appointment of Crane as its fourth UK distributor. The vendor already works with Nessco, Nimans and Westcon, and said all its distributors will now also be able to send a licence to resellers in 30 seconds (CRN, 21 June).
Andrew Saunders, divisional managing director at Crane, said channel partners cannot afford to retain time-consuming people-and paper-based processes.
“Software is beginning to play a bigger part of revenue. Anything that speeds up licensing is a good thing,” he said.
