Google will work with VMware "on multiple fronts" during cloud mission
Virtualisation giant VMware is joining forces with Google to create solutions aimed at making it easier for enterprise software developers to build and manage cloud-based applications.
The companies have announced they will be collaborating on “multiple fronts” to enable Java developers to build cloud applications using Google and VMware performance tools.
Paul Maritz, president of VMware, said the partnership would allow the two firms to provide enterprise customers with the “business agility and innovation” they expect from using applications hosted in cloud environments.
He added: “VMware and Google are aligning to reassure our mutual customers, and the Java community, that choice and portability is of utmost important to both companies.”
Vic Gundotra, vice president of developer platforms at Google, said: “By working with VMware to bring cloud portability to the enterprise, we are making it easy for developers to deploy rich Java applications in the environments of their choice.”
