Datatec deal gives Intact independence

Investment from South African IT titan allows Intact Integrated Services to separate from Logicalis Group

Intact Integrated Services has been moved out of the Logicalis Group to become an independent subsidiary of Datatec.

Intact was founded as part of Logicalis UK but was made into an independent subsidiary of the Slough-based integrator just over a year ago. South African IT giant Datatec, parent company of Logicalis and distributor Westcon, has now assumed a majority share in Intact.

The services firm's management team, led by managing director Bob Dalton, have also become shareholders. Datatec chief executive Jens Montanana claimed the deal would widen Intact's addressable market and would position it for growth.

"Since its formation in 2004, Intact has developed a strong brand and reputation," he said. "By establishing Intact as an independent subsidiary under the Datatec banner, it will have a strong platform for growth and will be able to fully capitalise on its leading position as an independent, channel-focused consultancy services business."

Dalton welcomed his firm's increased autonomy and also targeted accelerated growth over the coming months. "We are delighted that Datatec shares our vision for independent Intact Integrated Services businesses, and has clearly indicated its support for our future growth and success with its majority shareholder status," he said.

"This announcement marks the next key stage of growth for Intact, as we seek to build on the double digit growth we achieved in the last financial year. Operating as an independent business will open up exciting new international opportunities - both in partnership with other Datatec businesses, and directly through our expanding INSpan global support capability."
