Abtech sounds out AV sector
Reseller sets up dedicated audiovisual division
VAR Abtech has set up a dedicated audiovisual (AV) division to take advantage of the increasing convergence between AV and IT products.
Nigel Wright, UK sales director at Abtech, told CRN: “We’ve traditionally been an IT VAR, but we have been selling interactive whiteboards and projectors for some time. We’ve done a bit of work in schools and universities and have now set up Abtech AV as a separate division.”
Abtech’s AV offering includes plasmas, visualisers, CCTV offerings and digital signage, and the VAR plans to offer specific AV solutions based on customers’ requirements.
“AV is becoming more IT-enabled and there seems to be a gap in the market for providers of both AV and IT,” Wright added. “We’ve got three AV experts on board and they will work in conjunction with our IT people.”
