Buying group Synaxon's Enterprise Global Information System (EGIS) website is now able to offer UK member VARs more than 100,000 products.

Synaxon AG has long been a mammoth force in the German IT market, with more than 15 per cent of channel business in the country conducted through EGIS. It unveiled plans for a UK operation last year and the online database now features 313,000 part numbers from 12 distribution partners and upwards of 109,000 individual stock items.

Synaxon UK managing director Derek Jones said: “Our UK distribution partners have embraced EGIS wholeheartedly and they are already seeing just how effective it can be in terms of delivering additional income for their business.

"The fact that we have hit these key milestones so quickly is a testament to that success and we will continue to develop and grow the system over the coming months."

The buying group has also expanded its software team and now has 36 dedicated development staff at its Bielefeld headquarters. "This is a further sign of the group’s commitment and determination to make EGIS just as big a success here as it is over there,” Jones added.

Synaxon has now fully integrated its biggest UK distribution partner Ingram Micro. This will enable VARs to find and order stock direct from the distributor, in cluding any discounts available, without logging out of EGIS. Integration with other distribution partners Enta Technologies and Westcoast is due to be completed by the end of this month.

“The launch of this service opens up the Synaxon EGIS system to all UK resellers from the largest to the smallest,” said Jones. “Large resellers are now able to pull through personalised and pre-negotiated distributor pricing and, at the other end of the spectrum, the smallest independents have access to Synaxon bulk discount terms from distributors. In both instances the reseller saves significant amounts of time and money by being a member of Synaxon UK.”
