UUnet scheme brings tier to resellers? eyes

UUnet will add a further tier to its channel accreditation scheme to increase the rewards available to resellers.

The internet service provider already runs a programme called Team UUnet, which gives member resellers a share in the revenue from UUnet services that are sold through them.

But now a limited number of resellers will be able to become UUnet solution providers ? a status that will offer commission on repeat revenue sales in the second and third years, as well as joint marketing funds and compulsory training for the resellers? technical staff.

Martin Temple, channel manager for UUnet UK, said: ?It will give financial encouragement to resellers to sell our products on a more regular basis and gives them dedicated sales and marketing support.?

Commission for solution providers ? on leased lines only ? will be about seven per cent in the second year, and three per cent in the third year, on top of the 12.5 per cent members receive on first year sales revenue. Commission would also be offered for upgrade sales.

Temple said revenue would not be the sole criteria for promotion from a Team UUnet member to solution provider status ? resellers? commitment and ability to target additional sectors would also be taken into consideration.

The resellers? technical staff would have to undergo a two-day training course at a reduced cost of #500 to qualify.
