Logicalis lifts lid on first UCS deployment
VAR claims it is the leader of Cisco's pack after implementing vendor's new server technology at UK finance firm
Kelly: Deployment brings competitive advantage to both organisations
Logicalis claims it has gained a “competitive advantage” over other Cisco partners after revealing the details of the first UK deployment of a Unified Computing System (UCS).
Cisco unveiled UCS to much fanfare last March in its first move into the server arena and Logicalis recently told CRN that it had scored the first and second deployments in the UK.
It has now given more details on the first - a deployment for international capital markets firm Winterflood Securities.
London-based Winterflood said it undertook due diligence on a number of technologies. Space, power and cost were its key selection criteria.
“Cisco’s UCS demonstrated significant superiority throughout this process,” said Wayne Davies, manager networks abd infrastructure at Winterflood.
Winterflood processes about 250 million market data updates a day and had seen a ten-fold increase in market data volumes in the past three years.
Tom Kelly, managing director of Logicalis UK, said: “The accolade of being the first to deploy and utilise the UCS platform is bringing competitive advantage to both organisations.
“I have no doubt there will be a succession of companies that, having seen Winterflood Securities take the leap, will be quick to bring forward strategies that seek to overcome both the complexity and cost of operating a data centre, and which enable the business to realise new levels of performance.”
