Nimans flags up audioconferencing sales spike
Icelandic volcano is making the technology an easy sell, claims distributor
Grounded: Travel chaos has helped to bolster dealer sales of audioconferencing kit, claims Nimans
Evidence that the rise in fuel prices and the recent volcano-induced travel chaos is driving audioconferencing sales has been provided by comms distributor Nimans.
The Manchester-based distributor claims its own audioconferencing sales have spiked 15 per in the five months to May.
It claims to be Polycom’s biggest audioconferencing distributor in Europe and also works with Swedish audioconferencing vendor Konftel.
Ian Brindle, head of conferencing sales at Nimans, claimed the technology is an easy sell right now.
The snow at the start of the year and an increased desire to reduce carbon emissions has also translated into higher sales, he said.
“There’s never been a better time for dealers to be promoting the benefits of audioconferencing,” Brindle said.
“It used to be a challenge for dealers to overcome but not anymore as just a couple of lengthy business trips - and even several tanks of fuel - will pay for a standard conferencing unit. People don’t need a reason to buy anymore, word has spread and momentum is building.”
