Change at the top for VARs
Management changes at two of the UK's largest VARs
Two of the UK’s largest VARs saw management changes last week.
Stuart Fenton, managing director UK of Insight, has been promoted to president EMEA at the VAR. Effective immediately, Fenton will now be responsible for 13 countries.
Fenton told CRN: “The long-term vision is to maintain the software specialisation and expertise we acquired when we bought Software Spectrum (CRN, 24 July), and to build a broader product assortment across EMEA.
“We want to sign several new vendors across Europe. In particular we are looking at server, infrastructure and storage sector vendors, and PC technology across the region.”
Fenton claimed that the VAR is not looking at any more acquisitions at present, as the firm has its “hands full building on the existing software and customer base acquired through Software Spectrum”.
Fenton said the firm will also be looking to target the mid-market.
One source said: “This is great news for Stuart. Being an industry veteran, I am sure he has worked hard for the promotion and it is fully deserved.”
Separately, Abdul Terry, marketing director of VAR Equanet, subsidiary of PC World Business (PCWB), has left the company to take up a similar position at rival reseller Kelway.
Paul Barlow, sales director at PCWB, said: “Abdul was a valued employee for PCWB. He did some great things for the company and we wish him well for the future.”
Terry said: “I moved as far as I could at Equanet and am looking forward to the new opportunities and challenges at Kelway.”
