LSI focuses on channel model rejig

Storage vendor rearranges its channel as it integrates acquisition

Getting in order: LSI is reorganising its channel programme

RAID and host bus adapter vendor LSI has gone back to basics and reorganised its channel model, in light of its RAID adapter 3Ware merger.

In April, LSI signed an agreement to acquire the 3Ware RAID adapter business of Applied Micro Circuits Corporation for $20m (£12.2m).

The vendor has arranged its channel into three categories: distributors; direct market resellers (DMRs); and resellers. LSI resellers also have a new partner programme with Premier, Preferred and Registered levels.

Suresh Panikar, worldwide channel partner marketing and communications, said LSI aims to have 100 partners in the top two levels by next year. “With a more organised channel, we want to increase our presence and the awareness of our products globally, addressing areas such as Southern Europe,” he said.

Panikar did not rule out further acquisitions: “We continue to develop our own technology around application software. Partnering is a great way to increase your range.”
