SMC adds Northamber to distribution stable
Bullish networking vendor boosts UK coverage
Small mercies: SMC wants to strengthen its position in the small business and retail markets
Vendor SMC Networks has given its UK channel presence a shot in the arm with the signing of distribution partner Northamber.
SMC's current UK distributors include Gen-X IT, Channel Dynamics, Auriga and Micro Peripherals. The vendor claims the Northamber deal will give it greater clout in the retail and small business arenas.
Northamber's commercial manager Tim Wilkinson claimed the brand power of SMC had been a key selling point.
“SMC Networks has a long history in the industry and is a brand that our reseller customers know and trust," he said. "It also has a full range of high performance networking solutions that plugs gaps in our portfolio and maps well with our strategy to provide an end-to-end service.”
SMC has been in business almost 40 years. The firm is headquartered in Irvine, California, with a number of global satellite offices, including a UK base in Hampshire. The company specialises in LAN hardware and broadband connectivity devices.
George Zervos, SMC's UK sales director, said the vendor's portfolio is in rude health. He added that the Northamber signing spoke to his firm's lofty aspirations.
“The SMC Networks range of solutions is currently stronger than it has ever been, providing more choice, more value and more innovation than at any time in our history," he said. "This is the perfect time to expand our distribution in the UK. The fact that we are doing so with a partner that has the reach and reputation of Northamber is testament to our ambition.”
