Sun will this week discuss joining criteria for its iForce initiative with resellers including Morse, MDIS, Computacenter, Acuma, e-Net and Keltec.
To become members of the scheme, resellers will need to be accredited Sun data centre partners, set up a 'competency centre' - effectively a software proof-of-concept facility - and demonstrate bespoke application development.
Keith Roberts, UK marketing campaigns manager at Sun, said precise requirements have not yet been decided. The UK's share of the $300m (£188m) Sun has committed to developing the programme is not yet known, but Roberts said it will be spent on marketing. "Our commitment is to demand creation and drive more business through our partners," he said.
Cap Gemini, CSC, PricewaterhouseCoopers, EDS and Andersen Consulting have also joined to act as prime contractors and supply high-level business consulting, but Roberts said: "It's not an exclusive club. If any of our resellers want to go for it, they should apply."
