Partnership offers an Ideal-World

JD Edwards, HP and Prestige Systems join forces on ERP

A three-way partnership between software vendor JD Edwards, Hewlett Packard (HP) and consultancy group Prestige Systems is set to boost managed enterprise resource planning (ERP) services in the channel, the companies claim.

Known as Ideal-World, the partnership will involve JD Edwards' OneWorld Xe ERP software which is being hosted by HP and tailored by Prestige to suit individual customer's environments.

Initially launched in the UK, but scheduled to be rolled out globally if it proves successful, the package will be offered through JD Edwards and HP channel partners, according to David McLachlan, director of HP outsourcing for the UK and Ireland.

Financing will be offered through HP's bank, HP-1B, and will cover software, additional implementation and hardware required by customers.

"Our customers have been telling us that they need a complete end-to-end ERP managed solution," explained McLachlan, adding that the partnership should provide all the necessary pieces to fulfil end user needs.

Trevor Saloman, marketing director for northern Europe at JD Edwards, said: "Customers want low cost of ownership. By offering a managed hosting service we feel we are giving them what they are asking for."

John Dawson, managing director at Prestige, said: "This is aimed at businesses of all sizes which means HP's and JD Edwards' direct and indirect sales forces will both be brought into play. The feedback from channel partners about this scheme has already been very good."
