Enterasys signs up e92plus

Deal to increase penetration of networking vendor's intrusion detection system

Networking vendor Enterasys has signed up specialist security distributor e92plus to help it gain greater market share in the intrusion detection space.

Enterasys hopes the move will increase penetration for its Dragon range of intrusion detection systems in the UK and Ireland security markets.

E92plus becomes the vendor's second distributor, joining specialist networking distributor Azlan as a UK partner.

According to the vendor, the Dragon intrusion detection system includes network-based detection capabilities, modular host components and server management capabilities.

Mukesh Gupta, managing director of e92plus, said intrusion protection was a growth area, but that Enterasys had not been as well represented in security as it could have been.

"I don't think it has been well represented on the security side in the past because it has tended to use distributors that focus on its networking side, but as a security specialist we feel we can help Enterasys gain more market share," he said.

"Enterasys's products offer features such as integrated security, IP routing, policy-based networking and wireless support.

"When combined with e92plus's value-add capabilities, this partnership will result in greater opportunities for our resellers."

Gupta added that there was a "natural fit" between the firms.

Kevin Roberts, UK and Ireland managing director of Enterasys, said the vendor had been in the security space for about 18 months and had been looking for a suitable value-added distributor for six months.

"We have been looking for a distributor that understands security and can add value for resellers and customers. E92plus fits that bill," Roberts said.

"This agreement positions us to increase our global reach, penetrate new markets and provide a higher level of service to resellers in the UK and Ireland."

Roberts added that, as Enterasys continues to develop its security technology, it will come to rely on the expertise of its distribution partners even more.

"We are excited about the partnership and have some initiatives coming up that will help drive our products into the mass market," he claimed.
