Quantum leaps into Irish accounts space

Competition in the Irish accounting software channel is hotting up with the establishment of a new Pegasus reseller, Quantum Accounting.

Competition in the Irish accounting software channel is hotting up with the establishment of a new Pegasus reseller, Quantum Accounting.

The move follows the purchase of two thirds of payroll specialist Computer Resources by rival Sage. The remaining one third of the company has been re-formed as Quantum Accounting.

The new set-up boasts the management of the CRL Pegasus Accounting business, including managing director Charles Alken, who was originally responsible for introducing Pegasus to Ireland.

Michael Twomey, chairman of Quantum, said: "The Pegasus business will continue to provide complete service to the strong customer base in Ireland."

Quantum's immediate focus will be on a nationwide series of workshops to help customers master the challenge of the euro, according to Alken, who also said that there will be a new release of the existing Opera package.

"Not only will we be providing our software customers with a seamless continuity of service, we will also introduce a totally new and sophisticated second-generation Pegasus Opera system, which is probably the most reliable and respected accountancy software of its type available," he said.

Paul White, managing director of Pegasus UK, said: "We are delighted that all the old Pegasus team will be working on the products with Quantum and we are looking forward to a successful future."

Separately, TAS Software, a supplier of accounting and payroll products to the small to medium sized enterprise market, is boosting its channel with the release of its Authorised Development Centre programme and software developers kit.

The company said the move is the next step in its Partners in Business programme, which was launched in May to give resellers and systems integrators a wider range of accounting software.
