Compaq Reveals Armada Launch
Compaq has shored up its notebook offering with the addition of the Armada 1500 which will eventually replace the existing entry-level Armada 1100 range. The vendor has said it is aiming to provide users with a ?low cost, high quality portable PC that integrates everything into one unit?. The product is being targeted at the small to medium business market.
David Matthews, portables product manager, said: ?The Armada 1500 helps to break the view of what can be integrated into a quality portable PC at such a low price.?
There are four models in the 1500 range. The 1510 is a P120-based machine with 11.3in CSTN display, 16Mb Ram, 1Gb hard drive and comes with a NiMH battery. The 1510 is priced at #1,199. The 1520 has a P133 processor, 11.3in CSTN display, level two 256K cache, 16Mb Ram, 1Gb hard drive, a Li-ion battery and is priced at #1,399. The Armada 1520D has the same features as the 1520, but comes with a 10-speed CD-Rom and is priced at #1,649.
At the top of the range is the 1550T, which has a P133 processor, 12.1in CTFT display, 16Mb Ram, 1.4Gb hard drive and Li-ion battery. The 1550T is priced at #2,349.
The launch coincides with price reductions on other Compaq portables.
