Positive news at last for Relisys resellers
New company pledges to stand by monitor warranties
Relisys resellers can breathe a sigh of relief as a new company has emerged from the collapse of the monitor arm of Relisys that will honour all monitor warranties.
Relisys Digital has been formed by Relisys' parent company Relitec Holdings, and will focus on products in high growth markets such as high definition LCD and plasma TVs.
Relisys Digital's chief executive, Lisa Layzell, said: “Relisys Digital will focus on newer, expanding markets and will deliver class leading display solutions and Windows based terminal products. This is an exciting time to be in the market and we are looking forward to the challenges ahead and will meet those head on.”
Administrator PKF was appointed on 12 January when the monitor arm of Relisys went into administration (CRN 23 January). Relitec initially issued a statement claiming that Relisys Digital would assume warranty liabilities but resellers have been unable to get hold of Relisys Digital.
Following several weeks of legal dealings, the company is now up and running and operating from new headquarters in Warrington, Cheshire.
Relisys Digital has set up the following warranty hotlines: Monitors
0870 264 2037 and LCD TV and Plasmas 0870 264 2038.
A Relisys representative told CRN: "The new company, Relisys Digital, will not be producing monitors but they will honour existing Relisys monitor warranties. The hotlines were only activated on Wednesday so resellers might need to be a bit patient if things don’t happen as quickly as they'd like. "
Keith Warburton, executive director at the PC Association, said: "I'm pleased to hear that there is cover for trade and customers. My understanding is that initially they'll be honouring an on-site basis of the monitor warranties so instead of a swap-out it will be done on a pick-up, repair and return basis."
