Steljes set for move to new Bagshot premises
40 per cent growth over past 12 months sees distributor move to larger offices
Audiovisual (AV) distributor Steljes has outgrown its old premises and is in the process of moving the bulk of its business to a new office in Bagshot.
The Brentford-based firm has claimed it saw 40 per cent growth over the past 12 months and is geared for the next stage of growth. Last year the firm restructured into six separate companies: Steljes Trade, Markets, Training, Software, Managed Services and Technical Services (CRN, 1 August).
Julian Klein, who was appointed as managing director of Steljes Trade last year, said the majority of its business will have moved to the new building by April.
“The only parts of the business left at our old Brentford offices will be the services and hire business. It is a very positive move for us and gives us a lot more room to manoeuvre. The business has been growing considerably and this move is a key opportunity for us,” he said.
Klein added that the firm finished its management recruitment last week, hiring David Key as divisional director for Steljes Markets.
“Since the new strategy was announced last July, it has taken about six months to get all the management in place which is a good result,” Klein added.
Colin Messenger, senior business consultant at analyst Decision Tree Consulting, said Steljes has been quick to change with the market, which is why it was enjoying success.
“As a distributor in the past it was fine to push boxes, but that has changed and Steljes has recognised this. Some vendors began moving faster than most distributors could ever keep up and Steljes realised it had to put a huge amount of value in its business to continue being successful.
“Steljes began looking at how to specialise in different areas and offer a range of expertise. Financially they have made a huge commitment and this year it’s about to kick in,” he said.
