On board: Computacenter's five-year deal with FirstGroup kicks off next year
Computacenter has bagged a £14m desktop managed services deal with the UK’s largest bus operator FirstGroup.
The five-year contract, which includes a central service desk, deskside support and product supply, covers 5,500 users at 650 offices, railway stations and bus depots throughout the UK.
Going live in the first quarter of 2011, the deal will see Computacenter provide request, incident, problem and asset management from its service desk in Milton Keynes. The London-listed corporate reseller and IT services firm has also been tasked with provisioning hardware, including desktops and laptops.
Kevin James, director of the industry sector at Computacenter, said: “The services delivered to FirstGroup will be based on industrialised best practices developed within our shared services factory. By implementing repeatable processes we can deliver predictable outcomes in a cost-effective manner.”
Glenn Bladon, group head of IT services at FirstGroup commented: “Computacenter demonstrated that it has the scale and expertise in desktop services to ensure a high-quality service for our end users. It also offered a good cultural fit and an attractive commercial proposition.”
