Distributor signs pan-European agreement to help connectivity vendor increase footprint

Avnet Technology Solutions has signed a pan-European distribution agreement with connectivity vendor Mellanox Technologies to supply its entire product range to its reseller base.

The deal covers Mellanox’s complete line of 40Gb/s InfiniBand and 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter cards, 40Gb/s InfiniBand switches, InfiniBand to Ethernet or Fibre Channel gateway systems, copper and fiber cables and software.

Marc Sultzbaugh, vice president of worldwide sales at Mellanox said: “Avnet Technology Solutions’ global scale and scope will help Mellanox reach further into the European market and create opportunities for growth.

“Mellanox’s adapters and switch systems offer I/O infrastructure performance and scalability for datacentres, Cloud, Web 2.0 and high-performance computing environments. By including Mellanox’s InfiniBand and Ethernet networking products in their server and storage solutions, Avnet’s channel partners can gain a competitive advantage in the markets they serve and help their customers increase performance and efficiency of their datacentres,” he claimed.

Gary Coburn, senior vice president of the product business group at Avnet Technology Solutions, said: “Mellanox products are pivotal in the increasing convergence taking place in datacentres.

“Applications such as clustering, virtualisation, cloud computing and of course high-performance computing require the fastest interconnect. Avnet will work closely with our channel partners to ensure they have the sales and technical resources to incorporate Mellanox products into their solutions to deliver significantly higher application service levels for their customers, while reducing fixed costs and management requirements related to server and storage infrastructures.”
