Deepnet signs Softek
Security vendor signs Softek as first UK distributor to push new indirect sales model
Two-factor authentication vendor Deepnet Security has appointed Softek as its first UK distributor, as it morphs from having a direct vendor operation to using a 100 per cent indirect sales strategy.
As a result of the partnership, Softek will help Deepnet recruit a UK channel to push its flagship Deepnet Unified Authentication Platform and its two-factor and two-way authentication solutions to the UK market.
Simon Barnard, head of sales at Deepnet, said: “This is our first move into the channel. We are hoping to recruit between 20 and 30 VARs in the next six months as they are the best route into the SME market.”
Barnard said Deepnet stands alone in the market because it specialises in software-based tokens, rather than hardware-based tokens.
Softek will be the sole distributor for Deepnet for the time being, Barnard said. However, he added that the vendor would look to sign another distributor if the market dictated it.
Mike Bienvenu, technical director at Softek, said: “We have been looking around the two-factor authentication space, but never really liked the hardware token idea. Also, the likes of RSA and Vasco had broadline distribution already in place.
“The software token market is predicted to double year on year, so we can see a good opportunity with Deepnet in this market.”
Bienvenu added that Deepnet’s products are also scalable from the SME to the enterprise, which will appeal to its reseller base.
