CMS Peripherals unveils cloud strategy
Distributor aims to have full cloud portfolio for resellers to white label within a few quarters
Questions answered: CMS aims to help resellers build a multi-vendor cloud strategy
Distributor CMS Peripherals is revving up its cloud strategy and has signed its first two dedicated vendors in the cloud space.
The storage specialist has forged partnerships with email cleansing software-as-a-service outfit MXSweep and online backup provider keepITsafe.
Joe Fagan, product marketing manager at CMS, said this represented the distributor’s first concerted push under the cloud banner.
“In a few quarters’ time we would like to have a full cloud portfolio for resellers to white label so they do not have to do the donkey work of sourcing multiple cloud vendors,” he said.
CMS is not the first distributor to talk up cloud in recent months, with Magirus recently proclaiming that resellers who do not move with the times will meet a sticky end.
Fagan disagreed with this but said cloud had reversed the traditional adoption curve and is not being over-hyped.
“The laggards that aren’t interested in spending capex on storage are adopting cloud. The non-investors are now the early adopters, which has flipped the curve on its head," he added.
