NCP issues VPN mating call in UK
German vendor hunts partners after touching down in UK
Bob Tarzey: The VPN market is mature and it is not an easy time to gain market share
German virtual private network (VPN) software vendor NCP Engineering has marked its launch in the UK channel with a plea for partners.
The firm recently launched its first UK channel offering, NCP Secure Enterprise Client, and is now hunting for security VARs with experience in VPN technology to market it.
Simon Ford, international director of NCP, said: “It all comes down to the geography partners cover because that will dictate the number of VARs we need to address the whole market.”
In the past, the firm had sold its line of VPN software solutions exclusively within Germany, until its launch in the US last year.
NCP’s decision to turn its attention to the UK is partly due to the firm’s success in the US, added Ford.
“The UK market is the biggest in Europe for IT and has a very advanced attitude,” he explained.
“We are the market leader in Germany and could reach the same position in the UK in time.”
However, Bob Tarzey, service director at Quocirca, said the vendor may have left its charge too late.
“The VPN market is mature and it is not an easy time to gain market share,” he said. “All the big players already have products and I cannot see NCP storming the UK.”
