Presence aims to be more remote

Vendor hails launch of Networker Web Access Client

Secure unified communications vendor Presence Networks has claimed that its new remote instant messaging offering will help its partners to boost business.

The Networker Web Access Client, launched last week, is a browser-based instant messaging service that can be instantly used without the need to install extra desktop software.

Symon Blomfield, chief executive of Presence, said the service would cater for firms with 25 employees to those with more than 2,500 staff.

“The key benefit of this for our channel is that it will give them the opportunity to extend their business,” he said. “The web interface allows a partner to put in their own brand and a direct instant message channel is installed onto their customers’ desktop.”

Blomfield said the service is proving popular with firms that have a mobile workforce, and the technology operates in exactly the same way as the installed product.

Richard Pain, managing director of Presence VAR Solution Centre, said: “This gives us the ability to address issues that we have not been able to address in the past.

“We can use the service without having to spend time installing the agents and this setup provides us with far more flexibility.”
