Xirrus ready for push into Europe

Vendor looking for UK distributor to help drive sales

Wi-Fi infrastructure vendor Xirrus is targeting European expansion and has its first UK distribution deal in the pipeline.

The US firm has agreed deals with distributors across Europe and plans to sign a UK distributor before engaging in a reseller drive.

John DiGiovanni, director of marketing at Xirrus, said: “We are 100 per cent channel-focused and established a European presence 2005.

“We are hoping to sign a UK distributor by the end of the quarter. Our goal is to have 100 channel partners for the north of Europe.”

DiGiovanni added that Xirrus products let end-users to plan a Wi-Fi network to maximise bandwidth, simplify a network and save money.

“VARs will get a more efficient sales process and no one else is offering what we do. We have no direct sales and a very profitable partner management programme,” he said.

Xirrus has also inked an OEM agreement with vendor ADC to provide wide-area and Wi-Fi products for converged networks.

Mike Pratt, president of the active infrastructure business unit at ADC, said: “We are looking forward to teaming with Xirrus. This approach simplifies the deployment of Wi-Fi access and allows carriers and enterprises to deploy wireless networks as efficiently as wired networks.”
