WStore opens doors to mid-market
Online reseller launches division to offer mid-market products
After six months of planning, online reseller WStore has formally launched a traditional reseller division aimed at providing mid-market products.
The W4tech division will focus on storage, security, networking and application development, offering more complex software than WStore's traditional portfolio.
It will sell products into SMEs from vendors such as Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix and Veritas.
Eric Foy, W4tech business development manager, said WStore customers have been demanding more than the commodity products they usually buy through the online reseller.
"We are targeting existing customers that have planned projects around the four product areas," he said. "The idea is to bring them a new service and create an up-sell effect."
The company will be based in the UK and France.
Gordon Davies, commercial director at reseller Compusys, said due to its commodity background, the challenge for WStore will be the services and support side.
"With products, customers are usually forgiving, but if there is a problem with services and support it is a case of 'Don't darken my door again,'" he said.
But Foy said he was confident of being able to sell and support more complex products.
