Samsung gets into embed with Trident
Trident Microsystems and Samsung have announced a joint development programme for a combined notebook PC chip that incorporates SDRam Asic technology.
The new accelerator will be the first chip made following Samsung's 0.35 micron merged memory logic technology. It will combine DRam, logic and analogue circuitry on the same die.
The smaller chip is designed to provide increased performance capabilities and significant power savings on a smaller footprint.
Frank Lin, president and CEO of Trident, said that the announcement had implications for a range of product uses. 'We will be introducing a series of leading-edge embedded products that include our 3D, TV-Out and video display technologies to provide compelling product roadmaps.'
The company is planning to launch the new chip during the second quarter of 1997.
