VAR makes first acquisition in Northern Ireland
VAR Bailey Teswaine has expanded into a Northern Ireland after acquiring cabling firm Kedington.
The acquisition of the BT subsidiary is aimed at expanding Bailey's UK coverage and enhancing its current portfolio.
Bailey Teswaine has confirmed that no jobs will be lost from Kedington's Belfast office, and the firm's management will remain to assist with local market knowledge.
David Lane, finance and commercial director at Bailey Teswaine, said: "Our geographical coverage had not extended to Northern Ireland previously and Kedington are the biggest cable provider in the country with links to clients of ours such as BT."
Lane said the firm is planning to further expand in the Northern Ireland market and Kedington has been acquired to be developed as a business by Bailey.
"Kendington is predominately a cabling business with some IT, but we hope to broaden their capabilities and extend their portfolio," added Lane.
Jim Kent, chief executive at reseller Vistorm, supported the move and feels an acquisition is the best method for resellers looking to expand into Northern Ireland.
"The Northern Ireland market is very particular and loyal so you need a presence to succeed. Bailey buying a cabling company makes sense and this will be a sound development of their business," he said.
Kent added that Bailey is a highly focused business that is looking toward logical business expansions.
