Axcelerant sheds reseller division
Secon Solutions did not fit company's distribution business
E92plus parent Axcelerant has sold its reseller division, Secon Solutions, admitting it did not fit with the company's distribution business.
Former group director Peter Crystal headed a management buyout of the reseller, which was sold for an undisclosed sum.
According to Mukesh Gupta, director of the group and managing director of e92plus, the move has been under consideration for some time.
"Having a security reseller in the group did not fit well with our primary e92plus business," he said. "Although Secon Solutions was always a separate part of the group, potential channel conflict was ever-present."
Andi Robinson, managing director of VAR Entec, which buys from e92plus, said: "We never had any problems but there was always a risk that someone might pass on confidential information, such as leads."
In April, system integrator Integralis sold its Allasso distribution business for similar reasons. Bernie Dodwell, business development director at distributor Wick Hill, formerly of Allasso, said: "It is important to keep the businesses separate to increase reseller confidence."
