Birdies in hand for PC swingers
Euro 96 and Wimbledon are over, but the sporting summer of 1996 would not be complete without the PC Dealer Masters Golf Tournament, held in association with Ingram Micro. Contenders have completed the area semi-finals and are one step closer to competing in the overall finals at the Royal Lytham & St Anne's course next month.
The winners in the latest rounds included George Fletcher of Travelling Software, who beat BT's Roy Eastwood, by one hole. Fletcher said: 'The match with Roy was the toughest that I have played and won in the three years which I have taken part in this tournament.'
Last year's finalist Sarah Jarrett of SAS Computer Services surprisingly crashed out at the tie-break to Lee Phillips of Rosswood Computer Services.
But Phillips lost 5&4 in his area semi final to David Gunn of Freshtpax Computers.
1995's champion, Geoff Severn of Saxon Computer Systems, is still going strong but keep an eye on these pages to see who reaches the final.
