Maverick debuts on YouTube
Distributor uses popular web site to showcase Vision installation demonstration videos
Audiovisual (av) distributor Maverick has harnessed the growing phenomenon of YouTube to reach its reseller base.
The firm has uploaded a range of videos detailing how resellers need to unpack, set-up and install five separate Vision products, including the Techconnect family of connectivity, audio and control products, plus the Techmount.
Hosted by the firm’s Vision expert Stuart Lockhart, the sequences are less than four minutes long.
“Demand for Vision products and hands-on training in the solutions has been growing at quite a pace over the past few months,” he said. “A number of resellers and partners had been asking us to provide more hands-on training or workshops. When the idea of using YouTube came up, it just seemed like a quick and effective way to address the issue.
Lockhart adds: “More resellers are now getting involved in installation and making use of the Vision range now, but they are not always that familiar with some of the terminology that gets used in the av world.
“As a result, even though all Vision products are designed to be very easy to fit, they may not entirely understand the instructions. The videos show them exactly how to install the products.”
The firm is hoping that partners from outside the UK will also view the videos.
“We’ve now got distributors and partners for Vision all over Europe, and the videos provide a really quick way for them to familiarise themselves with the products. Visual images like this really don’t need any translation either, so the impact is immediate.”
Maverick said it may use YouTube to provide training on other product lines in the future.
